about me

Kelly Turner is a PHL/NYC based freelance illustrator and filmmaker. She has a BFA in Film & Video from The University of The Arts. Kelly has worked in fine art mediums, such as ink and watercolor, her whole life and now chooses to continue as both a side hobby and job. Kelly's current minimalistic, dark, cartoon-inspired portrait style is a product of her personal experience with mental illness, as both an expressive device and coping mechanism. Much of her work is also inspired by some of her favorite well-known and contemporary artists like: Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Harmony Korine, Tim Burton, and Lucas David; as well as pop culture references such as: television, film, music, and many more.
